Welcome to my studio!
I am currently scheduling students for Summer 2018. The Summer 2018 session begins the week of June 4th. If you are interested in lessons and you are new to my studio, please register as a new student. You can view my general policy and fees under the "Policy" tab. Or/& you may download the document "2018 SummerstudiosignUp" under the 'Resources' tab to understand procedures to sign up for lessons during the summer. Current students be sure to review policy and schedule for Summer 2018.
I offer private, one-on-one weekly instruction to students ages 13 on up and I accompany my students during the lessons. I want you to understand the basics of good breath support and encourage you to build your instrument with strong technique regardless of your preferred singing style.
To develop the musical potential of each student by regular instruction that presents balanced repertoire, vocal technique, music theory, and ear training. I will help you gain increased confidence, independence, and enjoyment in your skill as a singer through regular practice and performance opportunities.
"I have taken singing lessons since I was a teenager and Jennifer Nagy is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Her multi-faceted approach and her insistence on hard work and ongoing vocal development are rare qualities. She takes a personal interest in all her students, no matter what level they are and adapts repertoire to their own particular needs with the goal of advancing in vocal expertise always the goal. I highly recommend her for students, whether beginners or advanced singers."
"Jennifer Nagy has been my daughter's voice teacher for about 8 years. She works with her students diligently so their vocal abilities improve and grow. My daughter's skill in vocal performance amazes not only myself, but my husband and others who knew my daughter before her voice lessons. Her growth is astounding. Without Mrs. Nagy's knowledge of her profession and her compassion of her students and their abilities my daughter would not be pursuing a career in vocal performance."

Ms. Nagy has had a wide variety of performing experience. Ms. Nagy has been a featured soprano soloist for works such as Handel’s Messiah, the Brahms Requiem, Poulenc’s Gloria, Rutter’s Requiem and Magnificat, and Mozart’s Coronation Mass. She has appeared as a guest artist with several symphony orchestras in the western U.S. including the Coeur d’Alene Symphony, the Flagstaff Symphony, and the Phoenix Symphony. She has made appearances with Arizona Opera since 1999; roles include Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, the Foreign Woman in The Consul, Mrs. Hayes in Susannah, and Frasquita in Carmen.
Chamber work includes appearances with great critical acclaim with Chamber Music PLUS Southwest collaborating with actors such as Lynn Redgrave, Efrem and Stephanie Zimbalist, Margot Kidder, and Hayley Mills. In November of 2009, Ms. Nagy played the role of Micaela in Phoenix Opera’s production of Carmen. In Phoenix Opera’s 2010-11 season, she appeared in the role of Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.
Ms. Nagy is originally from Fresno, CA but currently resides in Gilbert, AZ with her husband, Rob and their children, Grace and Clara. Ms. Nagy is a student of Gail Dubinbaum.
Jennifer Nagy received her Bachelor of Arts in Music with emphases in voice and piano performance from Whitworth College in Spokane, WA. She received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. I continue to study, perform, practice, and improve my vocal abilities and my teaching skills.
I have been actively involved in the Valley of the Sun Chapter of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) for almost 20 years.
My students regularly place in the Arizona NATS Student Auditions & in the Arizona NATS Music Theater Student Auditions. My high school students have been successful at the Regional Honor Choir Auditions and some have made it into the Arizona All-State Choir. I have former students who have attended all three of the major Arizona universities (Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, University of Arizona) as music majors or minors, as well as several who have attended out-of-state schools as music majors or minors. Some have gone on to have professional vocal performance success.
I help develop a strong, healthy vocal technique that develops and enhances each students unique sound and talent. I believe in positive reinforcement and strong encouragement as prime motivators. I am a great “cheerleader” for my students all along their growth as a vocalist. Each student becomes more aware of his/her own voice, is more aware of how to achieve what they want vocally, and gains increased flexibility, control, and confidence in their voice.
